The commission has been going through the city parcel by parcel, particularly those zoned agricultural, to have a more detailed land use plan.
In 2012, this commission heard at least four cases.

Commission Function:
The city of Clay Planning and Zoning Commission has four responsibilities:
- Design a plan for future development.
- Advise the city council on zoning ordinance changes.
- Create and enforce sub-division regulations.
- Make recommendations on what properties should be annexed into the city.
This group depends on the hard work of the city's building inspector and city manager in enforcing the regulations. Anyone wanting to change the use of property located in the Clay city limits should contact City Manager Ronnie Dixon.
The group meets at City Hall on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
