Unearth A Story

Summer reading runs from May 30th - July 25th, 2026. The library will be closed on federal holidays falling during this time.

Here’s how you can win prizes this summer when you read, read, read!

  • Read books!
  • Write the books you read (or listen to) on your Reading Log.
  • Bring your reading log in once each week and choose your treat.
  • AND put your name in the drawing for one of our BIG PRIZES.

Suggested requirements to earn a treat & prize slip:

Listeners: Listen to 10 board books or picture books.
Readers: Read alone (or with help) 10 picture books, 5 readers or 1 chapter book.

Summer Reading Kick-Off: Foam Party and snow cones! Bring your own towel.

Preschool Storytime: For ages 2-5 yrs old, but all ages are welcome.

Toddler Tumbling: Ages 2-5. REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Space is limited.

Professor Whizzpop: a super silly, super fun magic show!

Reptile Zoo: Ms. Magoo is bringing her reptile friends to visit the library!

Bricks and Minifigs: Come learn about Lego and build with us.

Ms. Jan the Science Lady: The most science fun EVER!

Dino Bone Build: Come build dinosaurs with our giant foam dino bones.

Sunni Bear Farm: Local farmer Ms. Brandy is bringing her farm friends.

Alabama Ballet: History, Q/A, dance demonstration, plus a beginners’ class.

Zoo: Exciting animal show with the Montgomery Zoo!

Bright Star Theatre (show): Giant dinosaur puppets—need we say more?

Red Mountain Theatre (class): An interactive introduction to theatre arts for K-5.

Michelle’s Magical Poodles: Dog show! Come learn about dogs, training and safety.
