From the Desk of Mayor Jane Anderton

What a month it has been for Clay! Our community continues to show up for one another, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Grace Klein Opening

Clay City Fest

Clay City Fest was an absolute blast! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible sponsors, vendors, and food trucks who brought the energy and flavor. And thanks to our tireless staff and volunteers who made every detail come together! What a great way to celebrate America250, Juneteenth, and the incorporation of Clay.

Second Saturday in Clay

Our Second Saturday Cleanup is in full swing as we worked on the Cosby Lake Trails. We even had a donation of lots of native plants, which we were able to get planted! If you haven’t joined us yet, come on out July 11! There’s something for everyone to do!

Out and About

I had the privilege of attending the Clay-Pinson Fire Department retiree breakfast to honor the men and women who served our community so faithfully.

And what a joy it was to celebrate Mrs. Martha Howell’s 101st birthday at the Senior Center! Mrs. Martha is an inspiration to us all. Happy birthday!

Happy 101st Birthday Ms. Martha!

City Updates

Behind the scenes, your city team has been busy. We successfully worked with the Jefferson County Tax Assessor’s office to resolve our 5mil tax, and we also located the long-missing deed to Wear Cemetery (and submitted that to the JefCo Tax Assessor’s office as well!) We are pleased to be able to preserve that historic property. It’s not over till the paperwork is done!

We've made significant strides in business license compliance, and our ordinance codification effort — led in part by our summer interns working on the behind the scenes parts of launching Municode — is bringing all of Clay's codes into one accessible, modern platform.

Karlus and Christopher, our summer interns

Our core administrative systems are being strengthened, our Finance Committee and department heads have done exceptional work organizing our budget and GL codes, and we are actively working to raise our BCEGS score, which impacts insurance rates for every property owner in Clay. Long-term planning efforts are underway as we continue to build a strong foundation for Clay's future.

As always, thank you for the honor of serving as your mayor.

With gratitude,

Mayor Jane Anderton
