From the Desk of Mayor Anderton

What a wonderful month it's been in Clay! From snowy days to packed fields, our community continues to show up for one another in the best possible ways. Here's a look at what I’ve been up to around town.

I attended Karaoke Night at The Pines, as well as visited our local scouting troops to talk to them about local government! What a great group of young people!

I had a fantastic time volunteering at the Alabama Open Pickleball Tournament, hosted at our pickleball courts. If you haven't tried pickleball yet, it might be time to pick up a paddle!

We also had an incredible Opening Night for Clay Youth Sports! We have over 200 kids taking the field this year. Seeing so many children excited to play, compete, and grow is one of the greatest joys of serving this community. A huge thank you to Jeremiah Whitfield and everyone who helped organize this incredible event.

City Initiatives¶

Behind the scenes, we have been hard at work on several important initiatives:

Municode Integration — We are in the process of integrating Municode, a service that provides codification, which will in turn make it easy for you to search and access the most recent ordinances from Clay!

Procurement Cards — We have started using procurement cards for our departments, which ensures greater accountability and efficiency in how we manage city resources.

Filling Our Boards — We are actively working to fill open seats on the Clay Youth Sports (CYS) Board and the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA).

We are also thrilled to welcome Tiffany Cook and Bill Sorrell as two of our newest CYS Board Members. Their experience and passion for youth sports will be a tremendous asset, and we look forward to all they will contribute.
