May was a busy and exciting month for the City of Clay, and I'm proud to share so many positive updates with our community.

Out & About¶

I had the privilege of attending the CCHS Band Banquet to celebrate our talented students and the Alabama League of Municipalities Conference in Montgomery, where I connected with leaders from across the state to advocate for Clay.

Community Events¶

Our Second Saturday Cleanup was a great success — a special thank you to Cub Scout Pack 66 for their incredible help! We were also proud to host the DUPR High School Pickleball Championships, bringing student athletes and families from across the region to Clay.

City Updates¶

A new cell tower is up and improving connectivity for residents. Clayton Road has been paved thanks to Jefferson County, and our brand-new city website has officially launched — check it out!

The splash pad is open for the season (FREE!), and we've welcomed several new seasonal employees, including splash pad staff and a summer reading librarian.

Planning for Clay City Fest is well underway — more details coming soon! We will be releasing some new information on that soon!

Council Actions¶

At recent council meetings, the following items were approved:

• Alcohol license for Liquor Discount Clay
• Animal control contract with Greater Birmingham Humane Society
• 5-mill ad valorem tax (as amended)
• Updated flood damage prevention ordinance for state compliance
• Annual asphalt and paving contract with Central Alabama Asphalt
• Annual labor, material, and equipment contract
• Additional funding allocated for Clay City Fest

The meetings for this month are June 9 and 23 with pre-council beginning at 6PM.
