Charles Webster has been a resident of Clay for over 68 years and was born in the house on Old Springville Road currently belonging to Three Hots and a Cot. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, for 53 years. He has two sons, four grandsons, and one granddaughter. Mayor Webster has served at Clearview Baptist Church for over 28 years as a deacon and trustee. Additionally, Mayor Webster has worked in construction for over 20 years as a foreman and superintendent on large jobs in Alabama, Georgia, and Oklahoma. He has taught school at The Academy of Craft Training and Clay-Chalkville High School for 13 years and drives a special needs bus for Clay-Chalkville High School and Clay-Chalkville Middle School. Mayor Webster has served the City of Clay as mayor for twelve years and held a position on city council for four years prior to being elected mayor. “I am committed and blessed to continue to serve the citizens of Clay,” states Webster.
Dean Kirkner has served sixteen total years on the Clay City Council, beginning with Clay’s incorporation in 2000, and as mayor pro-tem from 2004-2008. For 34 years, Mr. Kirkner has worked for Grundfos Corp., currently serving as the regional sales manager. He is the proud father of two daughters, both of whom are in the medical field with one working as a BSN,RN at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama, and the other as a nurse practitioner in Panama City Beach, Florida. In addition to Clay City Council, Mr. Kirkner has held the position of President of Clay-Pinson Chamber of Commerce since 2002. “I’m proud to serve Clay and its constituents in any capacity I can,” states Kirkner.
Chris Nail has been married for 37 years to his wife, Jaycylyn. They have 2 children, Jaycy, age 27, and Jake, age 26. They have been blessed with their first grandchild, Deacon, who just turned 1. Mr. Nail has worked in the publishing business for over 30 years and is currently with Jostens Publishing. Mr Nail is a member at Northpark Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon. He has lived in Clay for 32 years and loves the community. Both of his children attended Clay schools. Mrs. Nail taught special education at Clay Chalkville High School for 11 years and currently is working at Bryant Park Elementary. Outside of work, Mr. Nail enjoys time with family, playing golf, and attending summer concerts.
Dr. Orletta J. Rush is currently the Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning with the Jefferson County School District. Prior to her appointment as Deputy Superintendent, she served as Executive Director of Special Initiatives. She served as Principal of Brighton School 2014-2016 and Lipscomb Elementary School 2012-2014. In addition, she has over 26 years of experience working at all levels of public education. She has been a teacher, reading interventionist, assistant principal, principal and central office administrator. Dr. Rush earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University, Master of Science degree in Elementary Education, Educational Specialist Degree in Elementary Education from Troy University, and Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Samford University. “I have worked in the city of Clay, as an Assistant Principal at Clay Elementary School for 5 years and I have been a resident since 2017,” states Rush.
